The world needs new ideas and ambitious approaches to tackle the growing energy crisis, encroaching climate change and the unequal social impact of these problems.
Our winners are remarkable people who have dedicated themselves to finding simple solutions to these complex problems. They include community groups producing clean stoves that improve the health and well-being of families; small enterprises spreading solar lighting to villages off the grid and local councils in Britain using waste wood to replace fossil fuels in low-income housing.
All these initiatives have faced challenges along the way and are keen to share their experience with others. We believe they deserve wider recognition too. So we've found a number of ways to share these success stories with policymakers, practitioners, media and other stakeholders:
Our technical team produces detailed case studies on each Ashden Award finalist which provide tangible examples for others to help accelerate the uptake of sustainable energy solutions.
We run seminars for decision-makers, practitioners and researchers to exchange knowledge and experience, and to identify opportunities for wider roll-out of local sustainable energy.
We produce broadcast quality films on each Ashden Award finalist which are aired by international broadcasters such as the BBC and used by winners to showcase their activities. They can also be viewed or downloaded from our website.
The Ashden Awards’ PR team work with winners to gain widespread coverage for their unique stories in the local, international and specialist media. Our winners find this exposure invaluable in building their profile and enhancing their reputation.
“The exposure we've had through the Ashden Awards has been like a torch - it's given us the confidence to go anywhere and do anything.”
