Engaging community groups is critical to the success of the MEA’s Low Carbon Communities programme
Accelerating local sustainable energy programmes is crucial if we are going to meet the UK’s targets for energy security and carbon emission reduction. Our awards show that some schools, businesses, local authorities and charities across the country are leading the way in showing how it can be done. But they need to be supported and spread much further to make a real impact.
We’re bringing together the knowledge and experience of our winners into a dynamic network that can really influence sustainable energy policy at the highest levels. We hope that linking this group of committed and visionary people together can help develop the right policies and deliver the practices that will allow many others to follow.
How we support them:
Business support and organisational development
We give Ashden Award winners business and organisational development support to help them increase their impact.
Creating connections
We link our winners with each other and with influential people and groups such as politicians and investors
Research
We commission research that draws on our winners’ experience and knowledge to feed into sustainable energy policy and practice. We share the findings of this work with regional and national policy makers, the media, partners and others who can effect change.
Events
We hold a wide range of events to ensure the views and expertise of our winners are shared with others.
Publicity
We publicise the work of our winners through a promotional film, PR at the time of the awards and then on-going media and profile raising support.
